The 2015 Australian Masters attracted the largest field to date with 53 runners.

The final was scheduled to be best of 9 frames but due to time restraints both players agreed to make the final best of seven.

Paul Thomerson finally won by defeating seasoned performer Joe Minici 4-3.
The final frame had more turns than the Great Ocean Road and equally enjoyable. Paul jumped out with an opening break of 30 but Joe fought back with exceptional safety, picking up a few points along the way.

Both players had their chances to win but Joe needed the blue onwards to clinch his third Masters Championship. He potted a great blue but missed a difficult pink. Both players had three or four safety shots before Paul rolled the pink past the centre pocket and potted it into the green baulk pocket.

Congratulations to Paul for winning his first major event and now he will be representing Australia in the World Masters in Cape Town, South Africa from 14 November.

Many thanks to the Mingara Recreation Club for hosting this event for the past eight years and to Gary and Rhonda Knight for their continued support and to Ross Wyard as Tournament Director.
