The Victorian Billiards and Snooker Association (VBSA) is host to the upcoming City of Melbourne Snooker that commences on Saturday June 6 and concludes on the Queen’s Birthday on the Monday June 8. The event has an extra special appeal as it provides for two wildcard entries to the Australian Goldfields Open, a world professional ranking event consisting of 32 top professionals to be held in Bendigo (Victoria) on June 29. 

The major sponsor for both the City of Melbourne and the Australian Goldfield Open is the Victorian State Government. 

About City of Melbourne (June 6 – June 8)
• Round robin stage commences Saturday June 6
• Last 32 stage played on Sunday June 7
• Semi-finals and final played on Monday June 8
• Total prize pool of $14,000
• Club venues for the event include – RACV, Brunswick, Yarraville, Cheltenham, Bentleigh, AK8 Billiards and North Brighton
• The event will be streamed live by Cueball TV and

About Australian Goldfields Open (June 29 – July 5 2015)
• Staged in Bendigo in the beautiful Goldfields region of Victoria, around three hours’ drive from Melbourne, the tournament represents part of World Snooker’s ambition to spread the sport of snooker across the globe
• The Australian Goldfields Open is the first world ranking event of the 2015/16 season
• The inaugural event in 2011, won by Stuart Bingham (current World Champion), was the first ever world ranking tournament to be staged in Australia. Hosted at Bendigo Stadium, the week-long event draws large crowds, many of them keen to support home favourite Neil Robertson, who has reached the final twice. Judd Trump won the title in 2014, beating Robertson in the final.
